Type Locality and Naming

The type section is located at Qingshuigou (gully) on the northeast side of Jinji Village, Banqiao Town, Baoshan County, Yunnan. It was named by Jin Suhua in 1985.


Lithology and Thickness

A suite of carbonate rock formation of the platform margin-slope facies. Lower part is composed of gray and gray-black medium- to thick-bedded bioclastic micrite limestone and thick-bedded nodular calcirudite. Middle part consists of gray-black and black medium- to thick-bedded micrite limestone, pellet micrite limestone, biocalcarenite, etc., commonly with scattered framboidal pyrite. Thickness >290 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

Unknown: Its relationship with the underlying stratum is unclear. Regionally, next older unit is Devonian Dazhaimen Fm.

Upper contact

Conformable contact with the overlying Jiangjiawan Fm

Regional extent

Distributed on the northeast side of Baoshan County

Fossils

Lower part yields conodonts Gnathodus pseudosemiglaber, G. semiglaber, G. girtyi and Mestognathus backmanni as well as Ammonoids, corals and foraminifers; Middle part yields conodonts Gnathodus pseudosemiglaber and G. commutatus homopunctatus, coral Pentaphyllum, Ammonoid Girtyoceras as well as foraminifers, etc.
